I hope you had a great Thanksgiving…without indulging much more than you should have. Maybe you’ve been dreading this time of year because you managed to lose a few pounds, even drop a size or two. But now here we are in the middle of holiday season, and you’re worried about how you’re going to keep it up and keep it off. If you’re wondering how you’ll resist all the scrumptious desserts and high carb choices at the holiday buffet, remember that you’re not alone.
The weight loss industry booms in January partly because so many people fall off the wagon in December. Even hard-core healthy eaters have been known to put on pounds caving in to special seasonal treats. Blame it on the holiday cookie swaps!
What about all the parties and social events happening this time of year? Some you want to go to, right? Because you know you’ll have fun. There’ll be great company and good food. Then there are the events you have to attend. You know what I mean. The ones where you have to at least make an appearance. You don’t know if you’ll have fun. But there will be food, because everywhere you go this time of year there will be food. It’s impossible to say no to all that food. And much of it is rich and delicious.
You’re going to have to find a happy medium. It is possible to get your daily vegetables while controlling the fats, sugars and carbs. You can stick with your healthy eating plan and indulge just a little this holiday season. That will be better than getting carried away by the holidays and then being overwhelmed when you step on a scale in January.
